EXPRESSIONS OF THE WILD

An image is conceived in the mind, the composition, lighting, angles they all begin to grow in the thoughts of the photographer. The birth of a photo is the depiction of the thoughts that came together at that moment. When photographing wildlife, this thought is a matter of a split second. The luxury of time to think is limited and once that moment passes by, it may never come back. This is the challenge of wildlife photography, moments lost are lost forever, anticipation, knowing what, when and where to expect a moment and most importantly above all patience is crucial in capturing the emotions and intimacies of wildlife.

But, in that instance when all elements align just as expected, the light is right, composition aligns, the subject is at the right angle, it is then that a sensation so profound, so overwhelming and surreal shoots through the senses, excitement fills the space around, the world is frozen there is pause in time, nothing is heard, nothing is seen, what you see through the view finder becomes your whole world at that moment. And then, the breathing stops, feels like forever the sweetest sound that cuts the heavy silence is heard “click”. Life is no longer the same, a slow release of satisfaction finds its way through the body. A moment has been captured forever.
