An early morning game drive in Minneriya National Park in search of leopards was not too exciting, parked on the road, sitting ,and waiting. After a wait of more than an hour I decided to head towards the reservoir which was at capacity with the monsoon rains. Not expecting much in terms of elephants since the water levels were so high. The edge of the reservoir had an amazing view of the expanse of water and the single, lone palmyrah tree stood isolated amongst the water in a world of its own.
